The Midwest Clinic

“How to Apply” Video Series

Designing a cohesive educational video system for one of music education’s most visible application processes.

The Midwest Clinic “How to Apply” series was developed to support prospective performers and presenters navigating the conference’s nationally recognized application process. Built from archival conference footage and recorded narration, the series translated detailed procedural information into a cohesive educational video experience designed to feel clear, accessible, and aligned with The Midwest Clinic brand.

I storyboarded and structured the series, translating detailed application requirements into a cohesive educational content system designed for clarity, accessibility, and ease of navigation. Through motion graphics, typography systems, pacing, sound design, and visual sequencing, the videos transformed a high-visibility conference application process into a more engaging and intuitive experience for prospective applicants.

Drawing from Midwest’s established visual identity and conference atmosphere, the project balanced instructional clarity with the professionalism and prestige associated with one of the most influential organizations in music education.

While all three directions were grounded in The Midwest Clinic's refreshed brand, Confidence Through Clarity most directly addressed the project's central challenge: reducing uncertainty without diminishing prestige. By combining concise messaging, intentional pacing, and modern educational design, the series transforms a process that can feel intimidating into one that feels approachable and achievable. Every creative decision, from copywriting to visual hierarchy, was designed to make the process clear and help applicants feel confident.
